Lauren’s work is inspired by the exotic beauty of other cultures. The graphic shapes and elaborate embellishment of ethnic jewellery is a huge influence on her style. Her work draws on these contrasting elements, textures and patterns in a contemporary way. She aims to bring together sculptural forms and subtle embellishment, adding in small flashes of the unexpected.
As well as jewellery and object design, Lauren’s formal training in graphic design and photography has also influenced her design process and thinking, giving her a great eye for detail. Working from her studio in Melbourne her pieces are brought to life using traditional metalsmithing techniques as well as the lost wax casting process.
