Silver Novo Amulet (black) bracelet by Clara Ho
In ancient Egypt, the scarab beetle was a symbol of rebirth. It was believed to representthe god Khepri pushing the sun throughthe morning sky, just as the beetlealways pushed its ball of dung. Each day the sun disappeared, always to rise and be reborn the following day. Thus the scarab beetle became a sign of hope and renewal. The amulet is a contemporary interpretation of this ancient belief. One side is teh abstracted hieroglyph of the scarab, the other represents the eternally rising sun.
